500 Years / Le Havre

All over the town
A summer in le Havre / 500 years

- 22 walls / 10 authors / 11 graphic artists

Getting the walls to talk - literally. Such was the poetic aspiration of the Etant donné un mur project initiated by social landlord Alcéane which, buoyed by the festivals Une Saison Graphique and Le Goût des Autres in Le Havre, will be giving 22 building walls a complete makeover, drawing inspiration from literature and the graphic arts.
Works specially commissioned from Benoît Duteurtre, Camélia Jordana, Maylis de Kerangal, Céline Minard, Marie Nimier, Christophe Ono-dit-Biot, Véronique Ovaldé, Joy Sorman, François Vallejo or Valérie Zenatti, selected by the festival Le Goût des Autres, will be on display across the city.
To outfit and turn them into image, graphic artists Betty Bone, Erich Brechbühl, Virgile Laguin, My Name Is Wendy, Richard Niessen, Laura Kopf, Damien Poulain, R2 Design, Grégoire Romanet, Pierre di Sciullio and Twice, were selected by A Graphic Season for the attachment they have shown to Le Havre. It is a way for those who live in and around the city’s walls to regain the sense that this place is theirs while also learning another facet of the place they call home; this visual entertainment deserves to be shared as widely as possible, well beyond the borders of Le Havre.
